Flash Flooding
Decided to stay a bit closer to home than planned as the forecast had an amber weather warning for flash flooding.
Caught the bus to Otley, needed to buy a cheap umbrella when it did start to rain very heavily so quickly caught the bus to Ilkley, then found l couldn’t get the umbrella to collapse down and stay that way.
Elaine and l couldn’t stop laughing on the bus as it kept springing open.
Luckily hardly anyone else on the bus so it wasn’t poking anyone’s eye out.
The roads were starting to flood but as l know they can clear as soon as they fill up we carried on.
Only a ten minute journey but it had stopped raining when we got off the bus.
Went to my favourite cafe for a flat white and a scone, then to Booths supermarket and got a few unusual items that are hard to obtain elsewhere.
Then went to catch the bus home, huge queue, no buses due to flash flooding and all trains cancelled for the same reason.
People told us they had been in the queue for over an hour.
Just debating whether to walk the journey home ( only four miles) when the Harrogate bus rolled in which goes through my village so we hopped on that and we were soon home.
Now in our PJ’s having a G&T listening to the rain beating down on the conservatory roof feeling snug and cosy.
A tasty supper and something on Netflix awaits.
