Windows and Doors in Gruyère: last backblip
This is the last of my backblips from our lovely little family holiday.
The main photo shows one of the charming shop windows selling locally made produce. The name 'Heimatwerk' is a little difficult for me to translate from German. Heimat is the homeland and Werk is work. It has to be mentioned that the canton of Fribourg is bi-lingual, using both French and German.
Extra collage:
- Upper left: A homemade soap shop made with essential oils. I love the door knocker.
- Upper right: A window in a chalet restaurant showing they serve raspberries and the famous Gruyère double cream (actually triple thickness!)
- Lower left: an old door showing the date of1591 when the house was built.
- Lower right: four stained glass windows taken from inside the castle. The dates are marked as 1543 and 1568. As you see, the crane symbol is present everywhere you go!
Thank you for visiting several days of backblips from our wonderful and unforgettable stay!
