Azipod
The business end of an Azipod, ABB's Azimuth thruster. Gone is the noisy prop shaft on this superyacht. In its place are two of these mechanisms that can rotate 360 deg. It not only makes the boat more manoeuvrable, but, with bow thrusters and a satellite connection, the boat can be maintained as sturdily as it would be at anchor in any fixed point on the oceans. The yacht borrows technology from cable-laying boats that need to be precisely positioned when reeling out cable on to the sea bed.
The boat has a wellness deck with sauna, massage and two sun loungers that continually adjust their angle to the sun to ensure an even toast. One of its sister ships is equipped with a tender, a hovercraft, jet skis and an amphibious car in the toy cupboard. Then there're two infinity pools. Not really my thing. A good pair of wellies takes a lot of beating.
