Hendstock 10
I woke up at 2.20am on Saturday and went to bed at 2.30am on Sunday. We knew the forecast was bad for Saturday and most of the day was horribly wet. Water gushed off the stage roof and gathered in the roofs of the gazebos. It was a full time job keeping everything dry and precautions had to be taken to stop people slipping on the stage and slippery steps in the garden. As if by magic, the rain stopped at around 5pm, people turned up, singers sang, musicians played, everyone danced and laughed and drank and partied. We finished the night with the traditional acoustic sing song around the campfire. The last of the die hard party animals left at 3.30.
Hendstock 10 surpassed all our expectations. It would be nothing without all the people who give their time and money so generously, who show up and join in and the brave souls who get up and perform. Thanks to everyone who made it such a brilliant night.
