Off to Alderney…and a puffin on the plane!

Today we flew in a small…19 seater plane from Southampton to Alderney. It was all very civilised…a quick drive to Southampton airport as it was early, very few people( as very few flights) at the airport. The park and ride is closed so we were in the multi storey near the airport building for the same price. There are still very few coffee places or restaurants open there.

After a 35 min flight we arrived in sunny Alderney. We went with my daughter and family, great excitement for the grandchildren as it was their first flight. The pilot was very nice to them..2 crew and not even the 19 seats were filled. She gave them each book which is a story about a little plane called JOEY( the books were written in the 1990’s but are still in print and we actually have them as we bought them for my children a long time ago!)
We had to do a travel checker online with proof of vaccination etc before we left home and have had to pay £25 each for lateral flow tests. At the airport we had to log in again and were given a pack of the tests which we are meant to do today and every other day..but we don’t have to report them!
It is very very quiet here. We have visited many times before and it is the quietest I have ever seen it…so much better than being in Cornwall!, the beaches are deserted and we got an outside table overlooking the sea at a nice restaurant easily at lunch time.
