Male ...

... monarch butterfly.

Even though we have seen the female monarch butterfly almost every day for the past week or so we really haven't seen that many males.

In fact, I think this is the first one that I've seen in the yard this year.  But I know they must be are around as the females are leaving us lots of eggs on the milkweed! 

If you are wondering how I know this is a male ... the males have two distinct spots on the lower (or hind) wings.  And the females don't!
