The Jazz Age
Went to the Festival Theatre to see Northern Ballet's 'The Great Gatsby', based on the iconic novel of the jazz age by F.Scott Fitzgerald.
It was an amazing production with great ballet combined with wonderful music by Sir Richard Rodney Bennett and is without doubt the best ballet I have seen. If you have the chance to see it on tour, please go because it is well worth it.
The Great Gatsby takes place during the summer of 1922. Fitzgerald coined the phrase, "the Jazz Age" that same year to describe the flamboyant-"anything goes"-era that emerged in America after World War I.
These two flappers certainly got in the spirit.
Hope you have all had a good day.
