The Dig

Hard to find a blip today. Lockdown restrictions continue, we can only move 5kms from home and must wear masks everywhere, outdoors as well as indoors. My walk was cut short by a thunderstorm.  
 
So, how about what we’re watching on TV. Last night we watched The Dig, a dramatisation of the discovery of the Anglo Saxon treasure hoard at Sutton Hoo. The photo is the iron helmet that was found in the ship burial. Well, it didn’t emerge from the mud looking like this, of course. This is a wonderful replica based on the fragments that were found. Archaeologists are so clever. We saw it in the British Museum in 2019.
 
The movie is highly recommended. Great performances by Ralph Fiennes and Carey Mulligan among others.
