Well, here’s a mystery!

Oxburgh Hall is protected from the road by a substantial brick wall with turrets at intervals. This one has, at its base, a small square room with a tiny window and one door - it is now a toilet. Today I noticed there seems to be another room above - there is another small window and another door. But - how on earth do you get to that door? another volunteer and I were pondering this - she suggested that perhaps there is a staircase inside - though it is not apparent from the loo which is completely square. And anyway - even if there was an inside staircase or hatch what would be the purpose of this door? It is bolted on the outside and has no outside steps !! See extra.
I will ask someone next time I go there.
