Waverley Steps
One of my first memories of Edinburgh (and probably ever) was arriving in 1974 with my Dad and Brother on a train from Manchester and walking up the 'old' Waverley Steps. At the time we were being ushered away from home where, little to my knowledge at the time, my mum's mum was seriously ill. I remember clearly getting to the top of the steps and turning to the left and seeing the castle for the first time. Little did I know that twenty years later I would be moving up to work in the city and another 18 years later I would be returning from a trip to London and photographing the same steps but looking totally different - it's a sign of the changes that life brings.
