An Avid Lensman

'200'

Two hundred in 200 days - Now, I know it's fashionable and chic to make up a special celebratory Blip but as I live in just one room (admittedly with views over the River Avon that are to die for) and so have no space to make up such.

Also, tired and soon to be medicated.

Never mind! The big outside is my living studio, except for the odd (literally!) macro shot of household items and so this is literally a few hundred yards up the river. It's the main footpath AND cyclepath leading north and out of the city where the Avon flows under the main London to Exeter railway line. This fine old Victorian brick bridge often has reflected dapples from sunlit waters and at night has, well this. It's usually very busy and so an out-of-hours graveyard shift is required if a half minute exposure on a tripod is required. One has to always make sure one's shadow's not in, too.

The cast iron bridge in the background has merit, too, and was cast in the Midlands in mid-late 19th century. It now only takes local traffic, that road is now just a closed residential street now.

This was originally the usual night-time dark fiery orange but that is getting tiresome and where there are enough good solid tones for a decent black & white, then one has to try one. I had thought about adding the grey-blue tone after that I have done before that's popular, but I think that this is fine, suiting its industrial heritage.

Lens is Sigma's cheapie (£215, brand new, but the model that's just been replaced) 17-70mm which has a very useful max aperture f2.8 at the wide and f4 at the long. This image has not been sharpened in any way - you can see good fine detail and solid contrast, too.

So, a huge big thanks to all that have looked at, commented on and even thought my efforts worthy of stars, even favourites and now Spotlights. It's all quite giddying at times but even more so, are the true friends who I've never met or spoken to, who share this strange obsession that is Blip and all that that entails. I could go on to say that Blip has become a big part of my life but photography always has anyway, but being a blipping blipper gives reason and routine to it.

I'll leave it there, else I'll rabbit on incoherently or just break down emotionally.
