One that got away

Bob is visiting Kirkby Lonsdale, as he does from time to time, and I went down to meet him and a friend of his, Steve, for some lunch at the Royal Hotel before we took a short walk down to Devil's Bridge, along the river to the Radical Steps and back into town.

Just as we'd joined the path, we looked back to Devil's Bridge and there was a perfect photo. The sun was out and the light was great, and someone was on the river in a blue dinghy, just on the far side of the bridge and perfectly framed.

I was just about to reach for my camera, when I saw Steve was taking the same photo and I felt momentarily self-conscious about doing the same thing.

Consequently, what you get is this overcast shot of the campsite at the Rugby Club, which I took when I rejoined Bob and Steve after work. Sorry about that.

We did have a splendid evening, though, for which we were joined by another of Bob's friends, John, who's a lovely guy but whom I haven't seen for years. We made a small tour of the better pubs in Kirkby Lonsdale, and finished up at the reliably great curry house.
