On the waterfront ...

I took a trip today to see the Don McCullin photo exhibition at Tate Liverpool.
I knew it would be powerful
Since the early 60’s he documented from the front line in so many war zones. His photographs from conflicts such as Cyprus, Vietnam, Bangladesh are heartbreaking and brutal and his photographs of humanitarian crises brought me to tears.
As I approached the final part of the exhibition, photos taken in recent years, landscapes, I thought I would see gentler side. But his landscapes are harsh and sombre - but given the scenes he has witnessed over so many years how could they be anything else?
