Up close and personal …..
There’s a bit of an obsession developing here. I’m not going to apologise for yet another dragonfly, but I can offer the reassurance that there were far fewer around today then Sunday, and this may well be my last for the year. Of course, it would be nice if this was not another Common Darter …….
Our return to Conwy’s RSPB takes us to an almost lifeless pond. Nothing is stirring - until, that is, I see this specimen land on the fence. It’s then a game of cat and mouse as I try sneaking up only to see it take off vertically, flying around for a while before landing somewhere else. Eventually it seems to settle long enough for me to move in slowly, and that’s today’s Blip done - though it’s definitely best viewed large.
Of course, there’s more to life than dragonflies, and we spot several butterflies clinging onto summer and its remaining blooms. And over on the mud banks there’s a Great White Egret, sedately wading through the shallows, the afternoon sun catching its feathers as they ruffle in the wind. It’s absolutely gorgeous here today; the curlew curfew is still here, and today they’re very vocal, their plaintive calls echoing across the river.
In extras, then, there’s the Great White, a butterfly collage (today’s and Sunday’s shots), and a further collage of my attempt at in-flight dragon shots, again from Sunday.
