Memorial to those who died in occupied Alderney
This is the Hammond Memorial in Alderney near Saye Bay. ( see extra for the whole view) It is a memorial to the Hammond family and also to the many foreign labourers/ prisoners who died in Alderney between 1940 and 1945 when it was occupied by the Germans.
This year it looks particularly well kept with striking planting, mainly begonias.
Today was dull in the morning but lovely and sunny in the afternoon as you can see from the clear blue sky. We went to Saye beach where there were only about five small groups/families!
