Sparrows in the pond

When I was pottering about in the garden I could hear a lot of splashing.. The area round the pond had lots of wee birds including a robin but of course when I appeared most flew off.. This pair were having a drink and I wonder if they see their reflection. 
We always have nice clean water in a bowl as well as a bird bath but apparently the pond water is preferable.
