Not spring

It was truly perishing cold outside - no matter how well-wrapped up one's body is, a ferocious wind throwing snow in the face is very dispiriting. Ah yes, it's called graupel - when snow has lost its pretty flaky appearance and has re-formed into hard little pellets.

I was surprised to find that the old African violet on the windowsill has decided it time to start flowering - it's not that warm indoors either. Are you quite mad, Saintpaulia?

Oh, I see that the autofocus has picked out the hairs on the leaves and the new buds rather than the flower. And the colour is really much richer and bluer than this.....oh, well, it'll have to do.
