Ocean Drive Sunrise
I'm pleased to say my plan from yesterday worked. I got out early and was rewarded with a wonderful sunrise. Instead of going down to the beach as before, I walked the ocean path following the Loop Road and was able to watch the whole spectacle unfold as I went along. It makes it difficult to choose just one photo to post, so there are a few extras today.
One thing I like about this choice is how it reminds me of one of my favorite paintings. As a child I was fortunate to have a good art museum nearby and it was a place I spent a fair amount of time just hanging about for something to do. The Two Majesties, while not a large painting, always stood out, and I know its a popular part of the museum's collection. The reproduction in the link doesn't do it justice of course, you really want to see it in person.
Another thing I like about this is that it's easy to imagine being at the Point on the other side of Schoodic and watching the sun come right up out ocean. From this vantage point I must be almost directly in line with the main cabin.
The extras include a lobsterman heading for Frenchman's Bay, a view across Monument Cove, and some migrating cormorants. I also spent a bunch of time working on my class today but, as nice as it's coming along, it's still not as photogenic as the sunrise.
