Common Green Darner
To my mind there is absolutely nothing 'common' about this incredible Dragonfly! We see them often around our pond and in more wild places, but this one looked like it might be the 'Queen' of the Greens! She was larger than any I've ever seen and she had gold-flecked wings! Can't get much more royal than that! I must have taken 30 photos of this beauty and she sat very still for the shoot! Usually they don't rest long and are off snapping up tiny winged things. Adult Green Darners' lifespans are only from four to seven weeks, and much of their brief lives are spent in reproductive activities. Do take a look at full shot of the 'Queen' in my *extra!
