Ten bee-eaters

Search for them but they were already gone, high in the sky, like origami paper darts, so angular against the blue above, calling, almost a purr, to one another, graceful, beautiful, deadly fliers, drifting higher up the hill in the evening light, mixed in with martins at one point, and then gone. I wondered if they were already migrating.

We don’t see them here much. Lots down by the coast at Castiglione della Pescaia sitting on wires in the dry valleys.

A collaborazione resulted in 14 pots of pesto from the basil in the garden.

Promises of rain failed to materialise but the weather is unsettled and cooler. Planted 80 leeks out.
