Chalkhill Blue
A short windblown walk round Barnack Hills and Holes provided welcome relief from the computer and report writing. I spent most of my time looking for tiny flowers - Squinancywort, with it's four petaled candy-striped blooms is a particular favourite of mine, closely followed by the almost crystalline blossoms of Dodder, a parasitic plant with no chlorophyll that forms twining mats over other plants. And it was a treat to see the last few Chalkhill Blue butterflies, several looking surprisingly smart considering the weather and time of year.
