Our Annie

A few years ago I wrote a little apology for my much-maligned hometown, Oldham.

Looking back at it, I did mention Louise Brown (what do you mean ‘who?’ - only the world’s first ‘test tube baby’!). But, from Winston Churchill to Brian Cox, William Walton to Mike Atherton, it was undeniably a male-dominated defence.

So here is Annie Kenny, a remarkable woman who now quite rightly graces the steps of the old town hall. She should undoubtedly have been a greater part of the town’s history as told by myself and others. I stand corrected!
