Island marsh
When I was much younger people would set the marsh on fire just to watch it burn. I remember driving past this marsh to get home and thinking the fire was so hot it might melt the paint off my VW. In years earlier then that I remember how you could pick a water bucket of wild asparagus after a early spring fire and believe me we were sent out with one and told not to return until it was full. No one has burnt the marshes on the island in years now. McMansions have replaced most of the wild asparagus beds. I see a new zoning signs on one of the few marshes that are left. Things change, move forward, room has to be made for new people. Maybe it is selfish but I find it a bit sad seeing it all disappear.
