The last day of the holiday
It rained all of last night and when we woke up there was snow on the peaks. No wonder it was so cold this morning! It was raining with low cloud and rather miserable weather. I was also not feeling great as I have had earache all day, I am sure it is from the deep nasal swab yesterday as it is the same side as the nostril that was swabbed, and that nostril is still feeling very bruised and sore. Adam also had some earache and Pip was also feeling very sore after her swab. It beggars belief why they use this deep swab method here when Covid testing when it is not necessary to get a result.
Today is my birthday, so Meriel made a delicious gluten free Bircher muesli for breakfast, with nuts and berries and a blackberry compote. After breakfast we went for a walk in the rain, which was not as bad as it sounds. We then got changed and went out to lunch. The restaurant was lovely and as it was my birthday they gave us the prosecco we ordered for free, which was very kind of them.
After lunch we came home, and Pip had made a surprise birthday cake for me - it was a delicious gluten free chocolate torte, very good indeed.
I have now made food for our car journey tomorrow, and am about to go pack. There is always so much to pack up when we leave, including clearing the fridge and packing away things that we won't use until next summer.
We plan to leave at 4.30am tomorrow, the boys and gfs are getting the 9.00am train to the airport. It has been such a wonderful holiday with all the boys being here at some point, and it has been so relaxing. Now it is back to reality - we miss this place so much when we leave, but there will always be a next time.
