A day in the life

Highway Honeys

Tired, after a long day. In the end we decided to keep the last of the garden concerts indoors due to the weather forecast, that didn't exactly predict heavy rain but rather strong winds, cloudy and a chance for a drizzle. That's what we got, so we were rather glad we'd moved indoors into the lunchroom of a school nearby the Garden.

We had about 65 guests and the artists of the occasion was three girls calling themselves Highway Honeys. Last year they also finished the season but then they were called Highway Honies. They were told the name looked a bit off, as a musical event, so they changed it into the present name. They play in the tradition of what is often called "Americana", a mixture between American country music and pop. Last year they were quite new in the business and only had one song of their own, this year they had a full show with only songs of their own and they have developed hugely. The concert was a big success, finishing with a standing ovation.

Marianne and me had a long day, I left home at half past nine, and came home by eight. Normally we don't have to move furniture around to make the room cozy and then restore it again to its former boredom, plus wipe the floor off. It's been a good garden-concert-season with a lot of great performances but right now I'm happy its over for this time.
