SATURDAY 28TH AUGUST - GIANTS CAUSEWAY

Still backblipping and madly trying to catch up. Home now with so many photos to go through that its taking ages.  Finally ready to blip what we did the day after the wedding.

Breakfast in hotel.  Neil came to see me before I checked out.  He and Rachael had spent the night in the honeymoon suite and today they were going back to stay with her parents for a few days.

My brother and sister arrived to pick me up and we set off towards the coast.  Stopped off at Castlerock and walked on the beach.  See collage in Extras.  We intended looking around the Bushmills Whiskey Distillery but it was closed due to Covid (A lot of Covid restrictions which have ceased in England are still in force in Northern Ireland so a few places were closed such as various visitor centres and attractions )

We drove on to The Giants Causeway.  It somewhere Ive always wanted to go - and my sister in law hadn't been either.  My brother has played a lot of golf in the area over the years and he has already visited the Causeway.  Its certainly worth seeing.  It was VERY popular.  People all over the place.  With it being Bank Holiday weekend most places we went to were busy.

Next we drove to Portrush where we were booked into a guest house.  Dumped our suitcases and had a wander around the place.  Stopped off for coffee and cake in a cafe.  Then back to guest house to unpack and change for the evening meal.

We knew it would be a problem trying to find anywhere to eat.  Portrush was very busy  Anywhere that took bookings was fully booked.  The places that were " walk -ins"  were full.  You could wait but it might be 30 mins or 40 mins - or more.  We finally ended up at the Ramore Restaurant by the harbour.  You were given a ticket and had to wait outside till your number was called.  In the end we waited around 35 mins.  But the wait was worth it.  Me and my brother ordered the fish pie.  It was enormous - and delicious.  See Extra photo.

So another great day .  Its been lovely to spend time with my brother and sister in law.
