Derelict Sunday in Boston, Arkansas
Went for a drive primarily to get out of the house and also, look for something fitting for a "Derelict Sunday" photo. Found it driving through Boston, a small "blip" of a town on the way to my destination of King's River Falls, a nice area to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. There was barely any water in the King's river, just a few shallow pools and just a dribble from the Falls. It was a pleasant drive through some of the Ozark National Forest and the weather was actually tolerable with a lot of interesting clouds drifting in from the Hurricane in the Gulf. "Hurricane Ida" hit Louisiana today as a strong Category 4 with sustained winds 150 mph. We got some bursts of rain and cooler weather.
Another cool thing, as there was barely any water in the river a walk in the riverbed yielded an unusual looking rock. It just didn't fit with the others. Now, we're thinking it's a cannonball from the Civil War that must have washed down the river and was buried in the riverbed until now. I'll try and post a picture of it this week.
Stopped at the "Pig Trail Cafe" for dinner. A nice day all in all.
