Kasper the white GSD
Kasper will be 8 in January and my fourth GSD and being white makes him no different than his black an tan predecessors. White GSD's do have some history though as in the 18th century there was a stigma in having a white puppy in a litter and was believed that a white face would not be frightening to sheep so they would be no good as a shepherd. A guy managed to get some white pups and was able to breed a white GSD line but in 1933 Adolf Hitler banned them from being called German Shepherds as he believed being white was a genetic fault so they were known as Swiss and Canadian Shepherds. In recent times a genetic study has been done and they are true GSD's and with Kasper being my fourth GSD his traits are the same as the black an tan dogs I have shared my life with.
