A moment of some significance

All the planning that has gone into the move to California meant nothing if we could not cross the  US border. In anticipation, we had all our documents organized and I had spent some time preparing for the kinds of questions usually asked.. The officer was remarkably and unusually kind asking me only one question. “Are you aware of the fee, Sir?”  That was the extent of my processing. A few minutes later we all sat down for breakfast at YYC airport. The move is actually happening.
