Serene green
Well, it wasn't the snow that flattened the daffs but the wind - a strong south-easterly. The forecasters reckon we may be heading for a record cold March - the temperature gauge ranged from 2-4C today but it felt much, much colder. It did snow here, but rather half-heatedly - most appears to have been dumped a little further south and north from us - the beauty of our 'micro-climate'! Whereas there are reports of power cuts after 20-30cm in Kircudbright (where friends are currently on holiday!) and with more to come overnight, here there is nothing lying.
All in all it was a wild day for a funeral. There was a very large turn out to pay respect to a local resident who had given much to this community in the past few years and left so suddenly and unexpectedly, sadly missed. Returning home along a route rarely travelled, the greyness of the sky and landscape was broken by this cottage. Such a strange colour in these parts where most traditional buildings are white or rustic natural stone. Is this an attempt to blend with the landscape, or just someone with a 'different' sense of style? Perhaps the colour was being sold off at the local diy store, or is it our sensibilities that are at fault? Surreal or serene? Sums up the day!
