Touch of Color
Stifling hot, very humid, storms late. I slept in today but hubby was up early for his dermo appointment and then went to the convenience center to get rid of our trash and recycling. After breakfast, I had hoped to deadhead my butterfly bushes but after five minutes, I was soaked. Instead, I spent hours cleaning up data and pictures on my phone and laptop. That work seems like a waste of time because you do not “see” the results but it must be done. I also got rid of the cross stitch mess I’d made in a spare bedroom. At some point, I went out looking for a blip and it was slim pickings. These liriope “flowers” are dainty and there are many scattered through my gardens providing bits of color as other flowers wilt. Hubby spent the afternoon doing an advanced technical review of a book for an author he assists. I must say, I am disappointed we left US citizens and our allies behind today. Won’t say more that’s in my heart but it is hurting. May God watch over them until they are safe. Our prayers will also be with the Afghan people. If you haven’t read them yet, “The Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns” by Khaled Hosseini will give you a glimpse of life in that country. We must be thankful for our blessings. COVID is terrible here. Safeguard yourselves and those you love, especially the little ones. So thankful my grands were able to start school today. We registered for our vaccine booster. Thanks for visiting. "When it comes to life the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude." -Gilbert K. Chesterton.
