Drill

The Cowgate's finest dental practice.

After yesterday's blast through Is This It, thought I would stream the new Strokes album, oh dear it's absolutely dire. They've taken on some kind of 80's pop direction and done it very, very badly. I've nothing against bands changing direction, but The Strokes should only be about one thing and that's jagged, spiky, one-note riffing pop bombs. Time to give it a rest boys.

Took this photo on the way along to Avalanche at lunchtime, it's sad to see such an institution going to seed. I used to buy a lot of my music in the lady lawson st store and it was always a pleasant shopping experience. Now it's a ramshackle jumble sale of stock, including some racks of second hand clothes. Some of the CDs haven't even been priced (worked to my advantage when charged £3.99 for the latest Pantha du Prince) and very little is alphabetised. With the death of record shops a reality, you'd expect something dyamic and attractive to draw the in the punters, instead it feels like a depression has sunk. Still they did have the latest Low album in stock which I wasn't expecting, complete with free e.p. Here's something from the album proper.
