Thomas Telford
Telford's suspension bridge into Conway. I heard a saying a while ago, 'Scientists discover the world that exists; engineers create the world that never was'. I think this was especially apt in 1822 when Telford built this bridge.
Interestingly (well for me at least), the curator of the Bridge told me that Telford built a new part to the castle to tie his bridge to, that way maintaining the appearance of the existing castle.
