In a Forest

I was poking around in the forest during our work at the creek, photographing bits of moss and fern, when this disgusting creature suddenly appeared. In fact there were two of them. 
They are leeches and somehow must have known I was around. They try to latch on and suck your blood. It doesn't actually hurt but they freak me out. 
The best remedy is salt if you have any handy. They say you can burn then off too. Pulling them off isn't recommended and can cause infection but in my case that’s usually my reflex action.
Fortunately I was pretty well covered so doubt if any got on me but I will double check in the shower tonight.
