Springtime's Tear
Oh cry me Springtime's tear
This is all we're due, I fear
Harsh Winter's grip still holds
As even now Spring's bud unfolds
And petals that should day brighten
And help mood lift and highten
Are instead hidden under frost
While wildlife bears the cost
And struggles each to survive
To find food enough for life
Each mouthful a bitter fight
Each day followed by bitter night
Till finally life loses the will
And In sorrow swallows bitter pill
Giving up its meagre grip
And into death's dreams slip
And in doing provides the meal
That another's survival might seal
So on in constant cirle turns
As each it continuance earns
For so is Nature in its raw
No matter moved by wing or paw
And only man stands outside this fate
Making death's executioner wait
While bemoaning weather drear
Yet living without dread or fear
For knowing meals are at hand
They can never understand
The reason for nature's fear
Nor the sight of Springtime's tear
