Walled Garden Day
It’s Walled Garden day for me this week in Colby. As soon as I opened my car door, I could hear the hedge cutter! I know a what that means, I have to clear up the mess!!
I wasn’t wrong. The Beech hedge had been cut. There were wheelbarrows and rakes ready for use. I managed to get some help for a bit, so I raked it all into piles and he collected them. We just about managed to clear the piles on the path sides by the time it was break time.
After break, the piles inside needed clearing and I’d lost my help, so I did it on my own. I had the leaf blower to do the leftover leaves on the path. The Walled gardener went in front of me to warn visitors and I appeared in a cloud of dust!
The dust was crazy! Luckily it didn’t even take 5 minutes. Now it was lunchtime.
I had lunch and discussed which 3 plants to pick for my next Module and headed home.
Buster greeted me. My brother has been delayed, so won’t arrive until this evening. Buster has had a bath, so he’s nice and clean.
One of our neighbours came to the door, so I took Buster into the living room and closed the door. We played ball until our neighbour had gone.
On a random side note, my blip is a photo of the Eucryphia flowers. This is slightly later flowering than the other 2 we had. When I first started in Colby, 10 years ago, they were in full flower.
All visitors would ask what they were called and I had no idea! I had to keep asking. After 3 times of being told it’s name, I finally remembered it. So, it was the first plant name at Colby that I learnt :)
