DC6 Diner
As Anne was going to an exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham, I elected to pop down to the Midland Aircraft Museum at Coventry airport. After a good, but cold walk around there I went to the DC6 Diner for a hot drink.
This is basically a Douglas DC6 Airliner, originally built in 1958, which has undergone a conversion into a restaurant. The flight deck is still there, but the seats have been replaced and nicely fitted out with tables and chairs. The food looked and smelt really good and the menu interesting.
Other than the ramp up to the rear aircraft doors and the entrance lobby, there was not a lot that would tell you from the outside that it was anything but an old airliner.
You can't see the transformation that has taken place inside, but you can pick up clues. Bit like people really, there can be radical conversions that totally change their character - still the same on the outside - but new people inside.
