The Bridge
Extra cold today with an especially biting wind guaranteed to make holding anything without gloves for more than a few seconds an act of reckless bravado. Nonetheless I did manage to take this picture on the new-ish bridge which crosses into the brutalist St James Centre from the Greenside car park. This modern wavy bridge replaced a rusting box-like contraption that had straddled the road probably since the glory days of the St James Centre (now laughingly rebranded as the St James Quarter) when men were men and architecture could only be functional and intimidating. The light was still flat and unappealing all through the day, so I've given this a little assistance in an attempt to convey the closed-in feeling that the hooped design of the bridge gives as it is walked over and through.
