Spokes Ride to Haddington

Forecast not looking good, but I am hoping that it stays dry for most of the ride to Haddington. We sneak past the barriers on the Innocent Railway and follow the cycle path to Milton Rd East. We ride down to Musselburgh and along the coastal road, most of which is in to the wind. There is a weird mist as we cycle past the site of the old power station. The Extra photo was taken at Port Seton. At Longniddry, we head inland, over Bangly Hill then descend in to Haddington.

We have lunch beside the River Tyne and the Nungate Bridge, shown in the blip above.

After lunch, we head west to Samuelston and Birk Hedges to Longniddry to rejoin the coast road back to Musselburgh. A nice ride with the wind on our backs. From Musselburgh, we follow the River Esk path, then the back road to Shawfair and the cycle path. We turn off at Lasswade Rd and head to Liberton. We head over the Braid Hills. In the distance dark menacing clouds are getting closer. At Braid Rd I end the ride, and everyone heads home.

The route can be seen on Relive here.

As I am home quite early, I get to sit down, drink coffee and eat chocolate and watched the Ray Harryhausen version of Clash of the Titans (1981). There is currently and exhibition in Edinburgh of the models created by Harryhausen for his films. Meanwhile the rain is torrential. Flooding in parts of Edinburgh. The bypass and parallel roads are flooded. Large queues of traffic.
