A Pretty Pest

Cynthia and I went for a short walk around the neighborhood this afternoon, where I spotted these beautiful plumes of pampas grass. The plants, native to the northern Andes, are quite popular on the west coast of the US, but some varieties have been declared noxious weeds here, and in Australia and New Zealand.
