Garden Spider Hunting

The setting sun highlighted  this garden spider nicely.
Unusually, I think, it positioned itself facing towards the hydrangea blossoms rather than outwardly where the flying insects would make their approach.
I trust this fellow knows a lot more than I about hunting gnats for a dinner.
