Divisions In Society

My interest in photographing this castle was merely as a feature against a wonderful sky, although I admit it also has some local historical significance. I glimpsed a view of it a few times through a gate when passing by and thought against a sunset it might make a worthy image.

However, in reality, at this time of year at least, the sun sets further to the right and, being on private grounds, this is the only viewpoint I found (so far). The grass field leading into the view is also not that helpful.

I couldn't help think about the circumstances that brought about its existence. I assume its construction was not just cosmetic and therefore had a purpose in protecting the inhabitants from whomever.
