Galloway Hoard mk2

We've had a lovely day today, mostly.
Went to see the Galloway Hoard today at the Royal Scottish Museum in Chambers Street. Not as easy to get to as usual since the fire last week. Other blippers have posted some wonderful blips so do check them out. I've put the real thing in the extras! It really is quite stunning, so fresh, several of the pieces could easily have been made last week. I think I may be paying a visit to the shop when I have more time, to see if I would perhaps like to buy a replica brooch. (what do I mean perhaps!) A bit of an extravagance but just occasionally it's nice to buy something special. Do go if you can, it's quite unique. It's only in Edinburgh for another week then travels to Kirkcudbright till next July then Aberdeen after that.
Soderberg in the Meadows next for coffee and a bun, they do do both very well. We then went to pick up Ali's car after its service, all good and ready for its MOT next month with no surprises.
Back home again I decided to do some more work on the front terrace. It runs the width of the garden and has two levels below the main garden, the first is mainly paved with a few plants on it and the middle has two flower beds divided by our magic stairs - as the girls call them. They don't go any where, just between the terrace and the garden but the girls love them and HAVE to be jumped down, from them to the pavement, every time they visit.
I cleared the end of the central bed a couple of weeks ago and planted some heather the other day. At the time I realised I hadn't any white heather but today, when i popped into our brand new, only been open four hours Lidl, what were they selling, for the princely sum of 59p, but heather. Un-named varieties, but they looked very healthy so I picked up two whites. Back home i planted them then got to work on the paved terrace.
I dug out some packed soil where a couple of nasty spikey berberis used to live and swept the paving. I managed to do half of the length quite thoroughly but it took me a good couple of hours, more to do tomorrow. In the process I came across the hoard starring in my blip. A rusted, horn handled, sheath knife and, wait for it, two pennies and what I think is a halfpenny. I'm not convinced it's worth notifying historic Scotland but I'm considering claiming a finder's fee for treasure trove lol. These modern coins don't last very well, one of the pennies is split and gaping open and the half penny is barely recognisable as such. I'll need to soak them in cola!
Oh and I won £25 with a premium bond!
