Fixed

Today I fixed something instead of just chucking into landfill and buying a New Thing.

It was a set of Creative Speakers. The Woofer worked, but the main speakers didn't. And I got really mad that I was seriously considering throwing the whole lot in the bin. That's part of the reason that the world is in the absolute mess that we find ourselves.

So I fault diagnosed. Turned out it was one broken pin in a connector. I figured out where that pin connected to the PCB and where it connected to the speaker volume controller - seen in this shot. And I soldered a wire between the two points - and lo, there was sound!

What a great feeling to NOT THROW SOMETHING OUT!
