Self-seeded
Two days ago, I finally got around to transplanting some zinnias I'd grown from seed. They were still in their plastic pots and had rooted through the drainage holes and into the potato patch. I cut them out of the pots (dug up the potatoes while I was at it) and planted them in a newly cleared spot inside the garden fence. They got well watered-in yesterday and I think will be fine. The flower in the main image is from a plant that had self-seeded in the strawberry patch.
We had beautifully clear and relatively cool air today. News of the flooding in New York and elsewhere to the northeast is so grim. Plus the aftermath of Ida in Louisiana, and the hellish fires out west...it's a never-ending list.
W. and I took a long walk into town and back this evening. Saw a heron in the creek along the bike trail, though my photo in the extra doesn't do it justice. Now, happy Friday everyone!
