Nuffield Place

A visit to the National Trust property Nuffield Place - https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/nuffield-place - the last home of Lord and Lady Nuffield.  Lord Nuffield was William Morris, the founder of the Morris Motor Company.

It only seemed fitting that we travelled in our Morris 1000 Convertible, which was given pride of place parking outside the front door!  It was lovely seeing other visitors stopping to look and admire it.

An attractive, but very down to earth home for someone who in his day was one of the wealthiest people in the world and founded Nuffield College in Oxford and the Nuffield Foundation.  The carpet in his bedroom was made of off-cuts from his factory, and much of the furniture was reproductions rather than originals.  A couple who started out in life as an apprentice bicycle maker and and apprentice seamstress, who kept things simple.

A lovely day and I think we will repeat the visit.
