Caught in the act

I saw movement  in the apple trees. One bird moved from well lit outer branches to the inside of the tree too quickly for any thing to happen except to realize it was a Nashville warbler. In the hopes of  nabbing of shot of the creature I watched carefully for minutes. Suddenly a flurry of activity and noise in the tree! could it be a small flock of warblers passing south? But no. Hopes were dashed as the miscreants made themselves known- not happy little warblers chasing after bugs- but a group of house finches preying on the apples.Good thing we don't use them!
This little tree came up on its own . I have no idea what kind of apples they are , except pretty bland. It is slowly being killed off also by the neighbors Norway maple. A species considered invasive here btw.
Ah well , perhaps another day for warblers.
The early evening brought another visitor - a male ruby throat stopped by the feeder . I think we are getting transients , though I could be wrong.....
