Roadway Bull Snake
The seniors ride was fun today, if a bit smoky from a forest fire.
I am grateful that the smoke pollution seemed to improve as the ride progressed
The little 16in (40cm) bull snake on the road in the photo thrilled me with the best imitation of a rattlesnake I've ever seen!
Even though I absolutely knew it was a bull snake that little guy pushed me back with its performance complete with the flattening of it's head to make the appearance of the viper's triangular head shape. (compare the extra photo where the snake is basking in the sun)
It was hilarious as he hissed, vibrated his tail, and struck repeatedly at my shoe as I gently tried to nudge him towards safety!
I did my best to move him completely off the road, but he was not buying what I was selling and stayed on the pavement at the road edge!
