The Little Mermaid...
We've had such a lovely day.
Andrew, Nikki, Esme and our niece Jen came for lunch and dinner. Esme was asleep in the car when they arrived and it worked out rather well as her mum and dad managed to eat their lunch in peace and she woke just as they were finishing.
Esme had a cheese sandwich for lunch but was more interested in the mini caramel shortcake goodies but was told she wouldn't be able to go swimming if she didn't eat her sandwich. In the end, after much negotiation, she age half her sandwich and a load of strawberries, which she shared with Lola!
They had a great session in the pool. Nikki wants Esme to have proper swimming lessons but the waiting list is miles long. She certainly has no fear of the water and as you can see from the extras, will happily launch herself into the pool and isn't bothered about going under the water. I've never had that confidence in the water and envy her bravery. Andrew and Nikki spent some time getting her to float on her back and she picked that up in no time.
We had a lovely dinner together, lots of chat and laughter and Esme endearing Lola to her even more by sneaking her carrots under the table.
A game of Hide and Seek after (basically us taking turns to put Esme's Baby Shark blanket over our heads while she counted to 20 and came to find us :-) Much hilarity.
All too soon it was time for them to go.
Esme will turn 3 while we're away in Lancashire but Nikki is having a small get-together the day after we get back so we won't miss the celebrations :-)
And now I must turn my thoughts to tomorrow's RPS Photoshop course. Looking forward to it but slightly nervous.
