A grand day oot
Got a few days to myself and so took myself off to Speyside, a place I love, to look for fungi. This, I think, is a Cauliflower Fungus.
Did a fair amount of walking, finishing off at Uath lochans along Glenfeshie where I met a very friendly man and his big Husky. We chatted for ages as if we were old friends, and discovered we'd both like our ashes scattered in the same places...
I always think of my mum when I visit Uath lochans. When I was at college I had a summer job at Loch Insh Watersports (with it's very volatile owner). And, not having a car, I had to walk or hitch every where. Uath lochans was in walking distance and so I was a regular visitor and loved it there, so peaceful then as fewer tourists. So, when my mum came up to visit I took her, thinking she would love it too. She hated it, and still talks about how much she hated it to this day. Apparently she didn't like the fact that the trees were covered in lichen - a sign of clean air - found it too creepy. No accounting for taste!
On the way home I stopped for poshfish and chips at The House of Bruar. I think I've mentioned this place before, it's where all the huntin, shootin and fishing folk hang out and go to buy their Barbour jackets and Hunter wellies. Even the fish and chip shop is posh - lobster and chips if you like and they refer to the fish fryer as chef.
Everyone's favourite fungi in extras.
